How Your Thinking Can Help You Succeed 5X Faster
Your mind is your mighty driver. The thoughts that come in and the beliefs that we have about ourselves will lead us to success or failure. Depending on how you prepare yourself mentally: can either prevent change from happening or allow new skills to up rise. BUT… how do we actually hack our mind to its full potential?
Recently, I’ve been contemplating and learning more about the link between habits, consciousness, mindset and behaviors. After reading a few books on entrepreneurship, there were definitely traits that ALL successful people have which is having the right mindset. In the book Gorilla Mindset by Mike Cernovich, I was able to get a few points that led me closer to what this mindset was, that all successful people possessed..
Mike explained this in one chapter and that opened up a whole lot of new perspective on how people think in our society. He basically separated these into two categories — fixed mindset and growth mindset.
Fixed Mindset
Mike mentioned that Carol Dweck, researcher at Stanford University, clearly analyzed the concept of Mindset.
In a fixed mindset students believe their basic abilities, their intelligence, their talents, are just fixed traits. They have a certain amount and that's that, and then their goal becomes to look smart all the time and never look dumb. In a growth mindset students understand that their talents and abilities can be developed through effort, good teaching and persistence. They don't necessarily think everyone's the same or anyone can be Einstein, but they believe everyone can get smarter if they work at it.

Growth Mindset
“In this mindset, the hand you’re dealt is just the starting point for development. This growth mindset is based on the belief that your basic qualities are things you can cultivate through your efforts. Although people may differ in every which way — in their initial talents and aptitudes, interests, or temperaments — everyone can change and grow through application and exercise.”
According to Carol Dweck, we can identify Fixed Vs Growth Mindset by how we react for different scenarios:
Setbacks or Failures
If you have a fixed mindset, a failure — one bad test, evaluation, or outcome — define you forever. You are granting one setback the power to measure your basic intelligence and abilities forever. That’s why you need to prove yourself each and every time.
If you have a growth mindset , you will look at the failure as an opportunity to grow. You won’t let this one single moment to definite your ability and potential.
Challenges
If you have a fixed mindset, you will do everything in your power to avoid challenges because you feel like you’re not talented or smart. If you do take on the challenge, as it gets harder you lose interest and will give up easily.
If you have a growth mindset, you will seek and thrive on challenge. Instead of thinking that you won’t be able to do it from the beginning, you HACK your mind to tell you that you will grow and learn from the challenge. “This is hard. THIS IS FUN”
Hard-work and achievement
In a Fixed mindset, people believe that you’re born with natural talents and abilities. These people truly believe that if you don’t succeed then it’s all been wasted. This is why hard work and big effort scares them. “Great achievers are not supposed to need effort, and if you fail, all of your hard work was wasted”.
In a growth mindset, you are completely the opposite. You know that, in order to achieve success you WILL need to put in the work and that it doesn’t just come naturally.
Fixed Mindset vs. Growth Mindset?
Personally, I know for a fact that in some areas of my life, I have a fixed mindset (because I was brought up that way.. Either traditionally or just a fixed belief I’ve always had). However, in 2019, at least 70% of my fixed mindset had transitioned into a growth mindset.
Don’t limit yourself with criticism, failures, setbacks, feeling stuck, challenges, tradition, weaknesses and difficulties..
If you tailor your consciousness to become growth mindset-oriented, the result is that ALL failures, setbacks, challenges and any negative emotions can turn you to become a better person and achieve any goals you have set for yourself 5X Faster!
